10JUL10

So, clearly I suck at blogging. I keep meaning to, and never get back.

I bit the bullet and joined the crossfit gym down the street from work. I did 3 weeks of "on ramp" which teaches you the basics of the exercises. It was a lot of fun, I totally love it. Mike thinks I'm even more insane now, but well, you'll have that. Today was my last class. We did the Ben workout again, which is the same workout we did the first class. My time then was 6:11. Today was 4:55. It's run 200 meters, 15-12-9 of ring pull ups, pushups and airsquats, then 200 meter run. More impressive to me than the time was that I didn't need to alter the ring pull ups any, I did them all without any modifications. The pushups, I did go to my knees after the first set. I probably could have done them all...I was worried about my time though.

Today was also the Women's Distance Festival. Which I DID NOT get to do because it SOLD.OUT. I'm pretty bitter about that. Mad at myself for not registering when I should have, and also because it's become more of a walk than anything. Most people walk. I know because someone I know posted her time as 21:30, and she finished in the top third. Hello! I know this sounds elitist and shitty, but I hate that. Maybe they should have two separate events if it's going to be this popular. It always irritated me before that the walkers would line up in the front, even though they are not supposed to. Common event courtesy and they mention it as you're lining up as well. I've done that race every year except 1 for the last 8 years. Boo. It's a points race for SRRC! I have no freaking points this year yet. Gah.

Oh well, I ran three miles on the trail. I've GOT to get back to running...October will be here before I know it. I'm already way behind on my training for the marathon.

09JUN10

Today was P90X - Kempo. For some reason this week I don't feel like doing things in order. I'm following the weights then other order, but not the exact workouts as Tony intended.

I felt wretched. I was totally overheated, so I thought perhaps I would open the front door. Blech. Hot and humid already. So I took some extra breaks, but did finish the workout, so I guess there's that.

I imagine the Japanese food and BEER that we had last night didn't help any.

I didn't run either. Boo. Back to the good stuff tomorrow.

Today was my first day back at work. I'm mostly bored. I will likely look back on these days fondly soon, but for now, it's making the days long.

This morning I did P90X, biceps and back. I have to stop midworkout to make sure Rachel and Mike are out of bed, but it doesn't seem too bad. I could get up earlier, but that is not happening. 5:05 is quite early enough, thankyouverymuch. I'm pretty sore still from sucking and not working out for the last week and a half, but it feels good to be back in the game.

Took off about 1600 for a run in Washington Park. It's pretty cool that mostly you see the same people there, lol. My favorite loop is a little less than 2 miles, so I hit it twice. It was trying to storm, so the humidity was UNREAL. I was soaked. Oh well, I have a twisted love of the sound of soaking wet workout clothes hitting the bathroom floor!

As I was running, my mind wandered to the fact that my runs in Ghazni were 2 mile loops (a little over). How crazy is it that FOB Ghazni would fit inside of Washington Park?!?! In a slightly catty thought, seems to make use of the gator for dropping off LAUNDRY or going to the BAZAAR a bit more ridiculous than I originally thought. Hmmm.

Interesting. I'm going to attempt to keep track of my workouts and general musings here.

Weather was HOT and sunny, about 90 degrees. Humidity was moderate. Time: 1545.

Today I ran the "Baha" at work. I started by my car and ran around the range without too much trouble. The flat ground actually seemed harder, probably because I had psyched myself up for the hills. I have no idea what the distance is, so I decided to run for time. I got to the top of the hill, checked my watch...17 minutes, are you serious?!?! Agh, off to run more. So I ran the big loop around the base. It's crazy hot and I still can't seem to remember to wear a hat to keep the freaking sweat out of my eyes. So I get back to my car...27 minutes. I decided to stop. In retrospect, I should have kept going. My quads were screaming at me from the P90X, legs and back workout this morning, so I quit.

Speaking of, this morning I did the legs and back workout for the first time in, oh, forever. I thought before that my running was doing plenty for my legs. Ahem. So not. Either A) I've developed some nasty saddlebags or B) I've toned the rest of my legs up enough that they became more noticeable. Either way, GAHROSSSSS, so I will be working legs from now on, lol.
